Springfield Township has been my home for 31 years. Having grown up in the inner-city and moving here when I purchased my first home, I was deeply struck by the beauty and serenity of the community. My family and I have never taken for granted our good fortune to live here. Clean, well maintained streets supported by an exceptional Public Works Department, a professional and dedicated Police Department and wonderful neighbors who have become family. I’ve been blessed to start my family, raise my children and enjoy the benefits of a safe, clean, and cohesive community.
A key factor in my decision to pursue the role of Commissioner representing Ward 6 was born out of witnessing a deterioration of the spirit of community & unity that had always been synonymous with Springfield Township. Perhaps it’s unfair to allow the negative changes to cast a shadow over what is still a wonderful, highly sought after Community but they can’t be ignored. Our once united community has become fractured, divided and polarized. Anyone who has access to the Community forums on Social Media has seen their neighbors argue, some even to the point of vulgar, offensive language.
This is NOT the community I’ve come to love and be proud to be part of.
Additionally, the current BOC has become, with little exception, a “One size Fits All” governing committee. With singularly focused agendas and opinions that do NOT represent our community and its neighbors. The opinions and perspective of those who don’t align with the political views of our current BOC are not considered nor taken into account when decisions directly affecting their daily living and quality of life are made.
My focus as Commissioner will be to ensure my neighbors in Ward 6, regardless of their political views or affiliations, a voice at the decision making table. To reintroduce common sense and objective reasoning into the discussions that affect our Families, our Children, our Schools and our Community!
F-Fiscal Accountability & Transparency
- As part of my commitment to fiscal accountability and transparency, I will prioritize the needs of our community, particularly those with single-family incomes and seniors on fixed incomes, when evaluating all Township spending and resource allocation.
O-Opportunity
- Provide an opportunity for all community residents to bring their ideas and perspective to the table in the decision-making process, not just those who align with the political views of the current BOC.
C-Community
- I will support access to community funded playing fields for ALL local sports teams and organizations.
- Tank Car property, acquired by our Township over a decade ago, has stood idle for over 13 years without any decisive action for development. I will collaborate with the community to integrate our ideas, finalize a comprehensive plan, and take actionable steps to implement it.
- Will proactively work with PECO to reduce the ever growing number, and length, of electrical outages in our community.
U-Unity
- Foster healing and unity among Springfield Township community residents in light of the recent challenges stemming from the BOC unlawful and irresponsible actions regarding the Springfield Township Police Benevolent Association. Nearly $300,000 was squandered pursuing a targeted attack on our Officers.
S-Safety
- I will initiate a comprehensive investigation, in collaboration with state and local authorities, to perform traffic studies aimed at enhancing safety on our streets. Initially the focus will be high traffic areas, the recent changes Bethlehem Pike, Haws Lane at the elementary school, the intersection of Haws Lane and Church Road, Lorraine Avenue and other high-traffic thoroughfares in our community.
Together we will place the FOCUS back on COMMUNITY, COMMON SENSE & YOU!
